Frequently Asked Questions

How are the courses structured?

Each program combines live weekend modules with weekly online sessions. You’ll engage in experiential learning, theory lectures, supervision, and personal practice — all designed to support both intellectual understanding and deep personal integration.

What is the “transpersonal” approach at typInstitute? What does that mean?
The “transpersonal” approach integrates spiritual and psychological frameworks, helping individuals connect with deeper aspects of themselves and reach higher levels of consciousness. It combines Eastern spiritual practices with Western psychological models to guide personal transformation.

What kind of courses does typInstitute offer?
typInstitute offers a range of training programs, including 1-year Transpersonal Psychology Coaching and 2-year Transpersonal Psychotherapy Counselling programs, focusing on personal growth, psycho-spiritual development, and practical coaching and therapy techniques.

What is the difference between the 1-year and 2-year programs?
The 1-year Transpersonal Coaching program focuses on personal growth and establishing the foundations of transpersonal psychology and coaching. The 2-year Transpersonal Counselling program includes everything from the first year and extends into deeper therapeutic work, including complex relational, ancestral, and developmental themes.

How long are the courses, and when do they run?
The Transpersonal Coaching program lasts for 1 year, while the Transpersonal Counselling program spans 2 years. Both courses are structured with weekend modules and weekly online sessions. The exact start and end dates for each cohort will be announced soon.

Can I complete my course remotely?
Partly. typInstitute offers a hybrid model combining live online lectures with in-person experiential weekends. Some modules can be attended remotely, and all online sessions are interactive and designed to maintain the depth and quality of live learning.

Do I need previous experience in psychology, therapy, or yoga to apply?
No. Our programs are designed for both newcomers and experienced practitioners. A genuine interest in personal growth and psycho-spiritual development is the key requirement.

What requirements are there for a successful application?
Applicants must be over 21 and genuinely interested in psycho-spiritual growth and helping others. No previous qualifications in psychology or therapy is required. However, emotional maturity, self-awareness, and a willingness to engage in personal practice are essential. After submitting your application, you’ll be invited to a short interview to ensure the program aligns with your goals.

Do I need to attend an interview before being accepted?
Yes, all applicants are invited for a short interview with one of our course leads. This is an opportunity to discuss your motivation, background, and suitability for the program.

Can I work while doing my course?
Absolutely. The programs are structured to fit alongside professional and personal commitments. Many of our students continue to work while studying, as the combination of weekend modules and online sessions allows for balance and flexibility.

How much time should I dedicate weekly to study and practice?
On average, students spend around 6–10 hours per week, including lectures, reading, journaling, and personal practice.

What kind of personal practice is required during my studies?
Students are expected to engage in ongoing self-practice, including meditation, journaling, and embodied awareness exercises. This experiential component is essential for becoming an authentic, embodied practitioner.

Is supervision or personal therapy included in the course?
Supervision is part of the training experience, while personal therapy sessions are required but not included in the tuition cost. We can recommend qualified transpersonal therapists from our network.

What support will I receive during the program?
You’ll have access to your teachers, mentors, and a community of like-minded students. We encourage regular supervision, peer exchange, and mentorship to ensure you feel guided and supported throughout your studies.

What happens if I can’t attend a live weekend module?
Missed sessions can be made up through recorded materials and scheduled catch-up assignments. However, consistent attendance is important for your certification.

Are the teachers qualified in the subjects that they are teaching?
Yes. All typInstitute teachers are licensed professionals with extensive experience in psychotherapy, transpersonal psychology, coaching, and spiritual mentoring. They bring decades of clinical, experiential, and teaching expertise into the classroom, blending psychological depth with spiritual insight.

What governing body is my certificate and credential licensed with?
Your certification is licensed and accredited through the International Association of Coaches, Therapists and Mentors (IACTM) — a global professional body that sets standards for ethical, effective practice in coaching and psychotherapy.

Is my accreditation recognised anywhere in the UK, Europe, or worldwide?
